Members and Guests Enjoyed the “Behind the Scenes” Tour of Detroit’s Historic Masonic Temple

Designed by George D. Mason & Company architects, construction of the Temple was completed in 1926. The large complex includes a 14-story ritual building and a 10-story wing for Shriners International, a Scottish Rite Cathedral, two ballrooms and seven “Craft Lodge Rooms,” each with its own unique decorative treatments, including Egyptian, Corinthian, Renaissance, Gothic, and Romanesque styles.

Rob Moore, Chief Temple Docent and Executive Director of the Detroit Masonic Temple Library Archive and Research Center, conducted the tour which was very informative. He allowed time for Q ans A in each room and members had many questions. Truly a fascinating building that all Detroit citizens can be proud of.
