The First International Colin Wilson Conference will be held on July 1, 2016, at the University of Nottingham. Colin Wilson was a prolific English writer of books including The Outsider (1956) and The Occult: A History (1971).

The Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation Summer Used Book Sale will be held Thursday, August 20 through through Saturday, August 22 at the Main Library, 5201 Woodward Avenue, in the A-level basement. Hours are Thursday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Saturday 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (bag day). Proceeds will support the foundation. The 3rd annual Detroit Art Book Fair will be held on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Trinosophes, 1464 Gratiot Avenue, in Detroit’s Eastern Market. For more information, click here.
Paul Nielsen, the owner of the Wundergound Magic Shop in Clawson will speak on the history of magic, plus have books on magic from his personal collection. His talk starts at 2:00 pm on Saturday August 29, 2015 at the Ferndale Area District Library co-sponsored by the Book Club of Detroit. Following Paul’s talk, top magician Gordon Russ will perform magic for 45 minutes. This event is free and open to the public.
